Winona-Ryder
Winona Laura Horowitz who is professionally known by the name Winona Ryder was born in Winona Minnesota. Her name was chosen by her parents after the town where she was raised up. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder, who considers herself Jewish has a connection to Ryder's Jewish father. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was only seven her family relocated into Mendocino County California. In Mendocino County, they did not have electricity. Ryder was an avid read and often spent her time reading books because she had no television. Ryder started taking acting classes at American Conservatory Theatre when she turned 12 years old. Lucas, a 1986 film, was her first major part. Ryder was only 15 when she got it. Ryder was bullied in the high school. Her acting career, she hoped to help, could have helped her. Sadly, this didn't occur. But she continued to pursue her goal. Ryder made her breakthrough with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice in 1988. Ryder was able to continue her successful performances in a variety of films. In 1993 she received two nominations for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part in The Age of Innocence.
